Here are the events happening over the summer holidays in Kingston to add to your holiday schedule. We have food, wine, fishing and stuff for kids – our little town may be little – but we offer a lot!

Events in Kingston SE for the 2018-2019 summer holidays

December 2018

The Twilight Markets on Friday 28 December

The Twilight Markets https://www.facebook.com/Kingston-SE-Twilight-Markets-1563207230464682/ are on Agnes Street in Kingston, open from 5pm till late. There are shops and stalls, food, beer, wine for the adults. There is also face painting, a petting zoo, performers, a jumping castle and a bucking bull for the kids!

The Kingston Treasure Hunt from December through January. This event runs through the summer school holidays. Drop into the Kingston Visitor Information Centre or the KFCP to find out more.

 

January 2019

The Kingston Foreshore Festival on Saturday 5 January

This is a very exciting event for the locals and is new to Kingston. On the foreshore of Kingston in front of Cape Jaffa Lighthouse overlooking Lacepede Bay, The Kingston Foreshore Festival https://www.kingstonseforeshorefest.com/ features a range of music, including famous country music singer Adam Brand and local band AXIS, along with many more artist. There will be dancing, a kids zone, food, wine and beer and a fireworks display at 9pm.

Kingston Lion’s Club Junior Fishing Competition on Sunday 6th January

This annual fishing event is for kids who love or want to try their hand at fishing. Just turn up and register on the day, entry is free. Registrations is at 8am for a 9am start at the Kingston Jetty.

Cape Jaffa Seafood and Wine Festival on Sunday 13 January

The Cape Jaffa Seafood and Wine Festival http://www.capejaffafest.com/ will be held on King Drive on the Cape Jaffa Foreshore. It will boast the finest local produce that Kingston has to offer cooked by local caterers and community groups and of course this includes fresh seafood. You can order a fresh locally caught crayfish in advance. There will be wines and beer from the Mount Benson and Robe wine regions.

You’ll be able to dance to live music from Maton Season Full Band and Soul Sleuth, and the kids will enjoy a sandcastle competition and face painting. Find out more here.

The Annual Lions Surf Fishing Competition on 19 – 20 January

The 40th Annual Surf Fishing Competition in Kingston https://www.facebook.com/kingsonsurffishingcontest/ is well anticipated and a lot of fun. The competition happens along 87kms of coast from Kingston to the Coorong with a prize pool of $25,000.

The fish caught are many and varied – mulloway, sharks, stingrays, flathead, mullet and tommy roughs.

 

Australia Day Celebrations and Ceremony on Saturday 26th January

Australia Day Celebrations are happening again this year in Kingston from 7:30am to 10:30am and everyone is welcome. Breakfast is from 7.30am with the presentation ceremony at 9.30am. The awards include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year.

The event is held at Kingston SE Lions Park, Hanson Street, Kingston.

Book into Kingston Foreshore Caravan park – only 20 minutes from Robe!

Place yourself in close proximity to these festivities at the Kingston Foreshore Caravan Park. On the Esplanade and looking out over beautiful Kingston Beach, you’ll relax and unwind with plenty of cultural and historical things to do within walking distance, and only if you want to!
