Throughout the Limestone Coast this winter, there are many warming and fun festivals events for all ages. And after 2020’s lockdown, events are back with a buzz.
Here’s are some of the main events happening in the region this winter.
The Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival
The annual Penola Coonawarra Art Festival has been running since 1991 and is one of the best cultural and artistic regional festivals in South Australia. It celebrates Penola’s rich literary, art and cultural heritage through exhibitions, workshops and performances, and it showcases the fine wines of the Coonawarra region through the many cellar doors.
There will be artists, wineries, musicians, local businesses, artisan food producers and performers, feast and festivities for the entire family to enjoy.

The Barbed Wire Festival
This cocktail event is organised by the Kingston District Council together with the Keilira Community. The event is a thank you celebration to recognise, reconnect & reimagine after the Keilira fire. The dress code is smart casual and music for the night will be brought to you by the Baker Boys Band.

Robe Winter Italian Festival
The lobster season is over, the grapes are picked and the warm fires are lit. This winter Robe will be hosting an Italian festival to enjoy the best of what our local Italian community has to offer – food, wine, music, events and activities for everyone.

The Millicent Cup
This all day event is run annually by the Millicent Racing Club and prize money ranges from $12,000 to $30,000. There are many activities, live music, fashion on the field and food for the whole family to enjoy a day at the races.

Coonawarra Cellar Dwellers
Every year during the month of July, Coonawarra wineries bring out their rare and unique wines which are not normally available at their cellar doors. Coonawarra wines are known for their superior ageing ability so you will be in for some very special wine tasting during the month of July.
There are more than 50 events and activities to choose from, including exclusive wine tastings, degustation dinners, long lunches, cooking classes and high teas to enjoy.

Mary MacKillop Feast Day
Mary MacKillop Feast Day is held every August 8th, in honour of the revered Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop. She was committed to serving the poor and going to where the need was and living amongst those in need all over Australia and in many rural areas, and she faced fierce opposition throughout her life.

Health, Harmony & Happiness Festival Robe
Health, Harmony & Happiness is a non-profit group at Robe that organise a 2-day festival every year to promote Health, Harmony & Happiness in the community. There will be reiki, psychic Bowen therapy, readings, astrology, crystals, health products, kinesiology and more.
