The Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival

The annual Penola Coonawarra Art Festival is one of the best cultural and artistic regional festivals in South Australia. It celebrates Penola’s rich literary, art and cultural heritage through exhibitions, workshops and performances, and it showcases the fine wines of the Coonawarra region through the many cellar doors.

There will be artists, wineries, musicians, local businesses, artisan food producers and performers, feasts and festivities for the entire family to enjoy.

Coonawarra Cellar Dwellers

For the entire month of July, Coonawarra wineries offer visitors a rare opportunity to taste and purchase aged wine that is not normally available at their cellar doors. Coonawarra wines have a superior ageing ability so you will be in for some very special wine tasting during the month of July.

The wineries will be hosting long lunches, dinners, degustation events and live music. A perfect winter experience, enjoy the atmosphere of home made food, music and extra-special wine, with log fires, pizza ovens, and some good conversation with the locals.

The 2019 Cellar Dwellers event programme will be available in the coming weeks so head to their website and sign up for their newsletter.

When: July 1 to July 31 2019

Geltwood Festival

The Geltwood Festival is held in Millicent every year and showcases the regions arts and crafts and includes craft exhibitions, a street market, kid’s activities, live music, museum exhibitions, quilt and craft displays.

The festival will open on Friday night 5 April, 6.30-8.30pm at the Millicent Art Gallery with drinks and canapes and everyone is welcome.

There are over 250 quilts on display throughout Millicent and every year the locals create a quilt for the “Quilts for a Cause Exhibition” for foster children. These will be displayed at the Millicent Visitor Information Centre.

There is a family market day in George Street Millicent on Sunday from 10am-2pm and a  Model Railway on Display at St Alphonsus Hall.
